When to rent instead of buy
Rent when 8 mm is a small share of your queue, when your own GV-D200 is on our bench, or when you want to offer Hi8 and Video8 without buying scarce hardware.

01How many GV-D200 units do you have?
A small number. Availability changes, so tell us your dates and we will confirm or offer a waitlist slot.
02Will a Digital8 deck play my Hi8 and Video8 tapes?
Most will, including the Sony GV-D200 we rent. It plays analog Hi8 and Video8 and outputs them as DV over i.LINK. Some later Digital8 camcorders dropped analog playback, so check the model.
03Is Digital8 the same as MiniDV?
The recorded signal is the same DV codec, but the tape and transport are different. A MiniDV deck cannot play Digital8 tapes and vice versa.
