The JVC SR-VS30U is a dual-format option with MiniDV and S-VHS capability, useful for shops that need flexibility without filling another shelf.
S-VHS transfers reward a stable transport and a careful signal path through S-Video. An S-VHS deck also plays standard VHS, which is why it is the workhorse of most transfer benches.

S-VHS (Super VHS) is a higher-bandwidth version of VHS that records around 400 lines of luminance and outputs over S-Video. S-VHS decks also play standard VHS tapes. VCR Supply rents the JVC SR-VS30U S-VHS/MiniDV deck from $99 per month and repairs S-VHS and VHS decks.

A maintenance plan can catch transport wear before it interrupts a transfer queue. Customer-owned decks can come through the repair intake for diagnostic and mechanical service.

S-Video, whenever the deck offers it. It keeps luminance and chrominance separate and avoids the dot-crawl and colour bleed that composite introduces.
The SR-VS30U has built-in digital stabilisation. For heavily damaged tapes a dedicated TBC still helps; ask us and we can advise on a capture chain.
