01Can I rent just a plain VHS deck?
The SR-VS30U covers VHS at the same price. Dedicated VHS decks are on our roadmap; join the waitlist on the VHS format page if you want one.
02Will an S-VHS deck play regular VHS tapes?
Yes. Every S-VHS deck plays standard VHS. The reverse is not true: a plain VHS deck cannot play S-VHS recordings at full quality.
03Should I capture VHS over S-Video or composite?
S-Video, whenever the deck offers it. It keeps luminance and chrominance separate and avoids the dot-crawl and colour bleed that composite introduces.
